The Desert Contractors' Association was established in 1984, by a group of 4 contractors. It has evolved into an association of contractors, builders, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants, who are involved in the construction industry in the Coachella Valley. As a member of the Desert Contractors' Association, you become a member of the only group dedicated to serving the industry needs in the Coachella Valley. Our efforts to support "Hire Local/Buy Local" and the value of only using CSLB licensed contractors are our primary concern.

The Desert Contractors' Association's efforts are focused on specific areas, therefore specific committees have been established to accomplish tasks that benefit the Association and its members.

• The Education Committee works to provide seminars that provide timely, relevant information to our members. They schedule dinner speakers, provide articles and edit the Newsletters.
• Fundraising and Special Events works to provide fun ways for the Association to raise funds for the Association and to benefit programs that we support. The Boys and Girls Club of Cathedral City in 2007, Building Horizons which helps to interest local youth in the building industry and helps to provide low cost housing in our communities.
• Government and Legislative Affairs meet once a month, with representatives from our State legislator's offices and representatives from the Riverside County offices. They have worked tirelessly on legislative issues that affect our members, such as fines and penalties for unlicensed contractors and enforcing those laws.
• The Membership Committee works to find ways to interest people in the construction industry to join with us.

We have seminars, mixers, dinners, and a golf tournament. The committee meetings are held once a month, so if there is anything that you would like to help with, have a talent for, you are more than welcome to join!

A big part of the incentive to join is our yearly Member Directory, which is printed and distributed to members and at local functions. Each member is listed and has the opportunity to buy advertising. We publish newsletters, as well as e-newsletters. All members are listed in the member directory on our website. This is a way to let potential customers know who the licensed contractors are in the Coachella Valley!

And, coming soon, we are working to make all of the information from the contacts that we have, available to all of our members on our website! The Desert Contractors' Association is a member of all of the Valley's Chambers of Commerce, CALPASC (which is a lobbying group up in Sacramento), NHBA (National Home Builders of America), ICC (International Code Council), BIA (Building Industry Association), the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) and several Riverside County organizations! Plus we get information from our legislators in Sacramento! We are working to make this information available to all of our members, in a way that is easy and convenient to all! We want you to have the information that you want, when you need it!
