Community Involvement
The Desert Contractors' Association is committed to the Coachella Valley Community
in many activities. These include the support of the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission,
the Boys & Girls Club Building Horizons Program, local High Schools, and support
of the Building Industry Association, direct contact with Supervisor Roy Wilson's
District office, Senator Jim Battin and the city building departments throughout
the Coachella Valley.
- Make A Difference Day 2007
The DCA has chosen a very special project for Make A Difference Day 2007. The Boys
& Girls Club of Cathedral City needs our help and we are here to give it! Let's
just say the club has NO maintenance budget, their specialty is kids! So
here is the DCA's chance to help them out. The 400 kids that the club services,
really deserve a place to hang that they can be proud of...

- DCA Celebrates Building Horizons 10 Year Anniversary
With public school Vocational Programs losing funding throughout California, it's
great to see one flourishing here in the desert. Since its inception in 1994, Building
Horizons has consistently and successfully used local construction projects to pursue
its stated goal "to provide vocational training to local youth" and "a work environment
in which those youth can mature while facing real-world work situations as they
explore possible career paths". Now, as it celebrates its tenth anniversary, Building
Horizons boasts 330 program graduates, many of whom have gone on to a construction
related career, and the successful completion of 23 affordable houses in the valley.
